Best World Project for Sustainability, Conservation, and Cultural Preservation
We are proud to announce that Turtle Village has received the 2024 International Tourism Award for Best World Project for Sustainability, Conservation, and Cultural Preservation. This honor reflects our deep commitment to protecting the land, honoring cultural traditions, and fostering a sustainable future.
At the heart of our work is Minobimaadiziwin—the Anishinaabe principle of The Good Life. This philosophy teaches us to live in balance with nature, respecting the earth and each other, while ensuring the well-being of future generations. It’s a way of life that guides everything we do.
Through zero-impact tourism, we preserve the land while offering visitors a chance to experience this way of life. We believe sustainable tourism can both protect the environment and celebrate cultural heritage, creating lasting, meaningful connections for all.
Thank you for being part of Turtle Village’s mission. Together, we continue to live by Minobimaadiziwin, ensuring that the Good Life endures for generations to come.

About Turtle Village
Our Turtle Shell units allow you to have a unique camping experience in the heart of Wasagaming Campground. Each Turtle Shell unit offers an off-grid package that includes solar panels and a battery bank for the power source to utilize interior lighting while maintaining the luxuries of charging your electronics.
The name Turtle Village is derived from the inspiration of a TURTLE as it’s home. These Turtle Shell units are weatherproof indestructible accommodations that have zero impact to the ground while allowing you to have the comforts of home. It is just big enough for you and keeps you safe from the harsh elements of the 4-season weather as well as safe and secure from wildlife.
We love our outdoor environment and know that our earth needs us to do our part by consuming less energy and reducing our environmental impact. Our way to do that is to be mindful by building with longer-lasting materials that require less maintenance and repairs for the long term as well as drastically reducing our building material waste related to the exterior shell like our pre-engineered metal panel system for exterior walls, roof, and floor. The Turtle Shell units are slightly elevated from the ground as well as 100% self-contained related to electrical and heating.
We welcome you to our way of life. Minobimaadiziwin (The Good Life)
